What do I bring?
Bring your glasses (Reading/Television/Driving) and Sunglasses for after your treatment to minimise glare.
Please bring with you a list of current medications and details of any allergies.
Ensure you have your Medicare or DVA card along with Pension card if that applies.
Bring along Private Health Insurance details for those who may require surgery. Those without insurance have the option to go on the Public Wait List or discuss self funding.
General appointment information.
Please allow at least 90minutes for your appointment as you may be assessed by an Orthoptist prior to seeing your Doctor.
Our Clinic has the ability to send you an SMS reminder for your upcoming appointment. We ask if you adopt this facility to reply with a Y to confirm your appointment or an N and we will make contact with you to arrange an alternative time.
For the benefit of yourself and those around you, if you are unwell, have a cough, cold or flu like symptoms please consider arranging another appointment time.
Who do I get a referral from?
Your local GP or Optometrist can provide you with a referral.
Can I drive?
Your eyes may be dilated for the examination.
You shouldn’t drive until the effects of the drops wear off – usually between 3-4 hours.
Bring sunglasses to wear following your appointment as your eyes will be more sensitive to light if they have been dilated. – see above
Do you Bulk Bill?
Bulk billing is at the discretion of the doctor and is not common practice.
Can I pay the Gap?
We allow Gap payments and lodge the claims online with Medicare on your behalf.
Information regarding surgery and patient file.
We ask you to nominate who you want kept informed. Your records are updated each time you present for an appointment.
Patients who do not have Private Health insurance cover and require an operation are placed on a Public patient waiting list.
These lists are managed by Wodonga Hospital with the hospital determining how many patients can be operated on per theatre session.
DVA and patients with Private Health insurance cover requiring a procedure are generally operated on at Insight Clinic Private Hospital.
Operations can be facilitated in reasonable time frames as discussed with our Surgical Bookings Coordinators. Some of the partners of Eyeclinic Albury have a pecuniary interest in Insight Clinic Private Hospital.
What is an ‘Indefinite Referral’?
This is an Ongoing referral usually related to a specific condition. Indefinite referrals for a specific condition do not require annual updates.
12 month referrals are usually standard and cover visits to a specialist for 12 months from the date of activation.
A yearly visit may require your referral to be updated from your GP or Optometrist.

Who do I contact after hours in case of emergency?
If the clinic is closed and you cannot contact us via phone. Please attend your closest Hospital Emergency Department.
Our doctors are on call with the Albury Wodonga Health Emergency Departments and can be contacted by the hospital should the attending doctor require expert assistance.

Request to Patients
We request ALL patients to consider rescheduling appointments if unwell. Our Reception team can assist with this, just call 02 6021 3755
